The SPCA Launches “Adoption Date”, Hong Kong's First “Dating Style” Animal Adoption Mobile App
Meet the Rescue Dogs and Celebrate the App Launch at Our Special Adoption Event
(Hong Kong, 7 February 2024) The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Hong Kong) (“SPCA,”) is pleased to present the “Adoption Date” mobile app. It is the first “dating style” mobile app for animal adoption in Hong Kong, revolutionising the way humans find their companion animals. To celebrate this milestone, the SPCA will host a special “Dog Adoption Date” adoption event on 24 February in Sheung Wan, where the magic of the "date" comes to life!
Revolutionising animal adoption with a dating app approach
Many people find their forever love through dating apps nowadays. Inspired by the modern approach on how dating apps can bring humans together, this app allows users to discover unconditional love from our rescue animals.
The SPCA collaborated with a team of tech savvy volunteers in developing the innovative “Adoption Date” mobile app that matches users with animals looking for a home at the SPCA. Each animal has a profile featuring their photo, name, age, breed, kennel location, and other information. Users can “swipe right” on profiles that captivate their hearts, and can pop by their designation shelter location for a meet-up.
The SPCA purposely designed the app for a real discovery experience so that users can see all kinds of animals that are available for adoption for the SPCA, including dogs, cats, and other small animals. The app caters to both potential adopters and foster parents. Registered users will receive timely notifications about the latest adoption events and updates on animals that need to find foster homes, as foster parents are often needed under short notice.
Through the launch of the app, the SPCA aims to help humans discover their perfect companions with greater convenience anytime anywhere to boost the plummeting adoption rate across Hong Kong.

Dog Adoption Date at Petisan
To bring the “virtual date” to life, the SPCA will organise a special “Dog Adoption Date” event on 24 February at Petisan Sheung Wan, a renowned design and lifestyle brand for pet lovers.
Rescue dogs from the SPCA adoption centres will be joining the event to interact with attendees outside their kennels, creating a unique chance for them and potential adopters to meet in real life.
