This is a great opportunity for you and your puppy (under 18 weeks before the classes begin) to join others and have a terrific time while learning important life skills. Our once-a-week for five weeks course will teach your puppy manners and obedience commands such as sit, down, leave it and stay. We will show you the best ways to overcome common puppy problems, such as play-biting, housetraining, chewing, jumping up etc. Classes even include some supervised play time for your puppy to learn good socialisation skills so join us at the SPCA and give your puppy a head start in life!
Puppies must be under 18 weeks of age and have received their first two DHPPiL vaccinations. We will need proof of this before letting you bring your pet along.
Please note that the first class is theory-based so please leave your dog at home.
This is a fun, beginner-level course designed for well-socialised, adolescent and adult dogs over 10kg. Course content includes obedience commands such as sit, down, stay, come, leave it, loose-leash walking, an introduction to heeling and not jumping up. There is also an emphasis on the prevention of future problems such as handling issues and food bowl guarding.
In order to attend, your dog must be over 18 weeks of age and weigh more than 10kg. Your animal must be fully vaccinated including up-to-date DHPPiL and rabies shots. We will need written proof of these before your dog can start the course.
The courses run for five weeks and each class is an hour long. The first class of each course is a theory class so please leave your dog at home.

Positive training is the use of fun and positive experiences to guide your dog’s behaviour, without forcing the dog or using punishment tools that cause negative emotions in your dog. Clicker is an important positive training tool, and with correct usage can create a learning experience. Clicker has a wide range of applications, and this course will focus on teaching your dogs various commands using clicker. Enrol in this Dog Clicker Training Course to let your dog learn while having fun!
Behavioural issues rarely develop overnight, and when mishandled or inappropriate training method is used, the issues can become more severe. Unlike traditional training courses, this course includes a 1-on-1 practical session that allows the instructor to gain a more in-depth understanding of the living habits of both the dog and the owner, and in turn, effectively assists the dog owner in knowing their dog better, preventing the issue from worsening, and identify appropriate solutions. The course also equips dog owners with various training knowledge and areas that require attention in daily lives, suitable for first-time dog owners and those who want to create a more harmonious living environment with their dogs.
Are you looking for new ways to spend your dog’s energy? Agility is a fun way to exercise your dog and it can strengthen the bond between you and your dog. If your dog is super active, loves running and jumping around, or you simply want to try getting into agility training, then this is the course for you. We will teach you the basic skills on how to introduce your dog to agility and guide you through the whole course. Sign up now as limited space are available.
Sometimes group classes do not fit your schedule or your dog has a particular issue you would like to address. The SPCA Behaviour & Training department offers private classes, by appointment only, that can solve these issues as well as providing a safe environment if your dog gets stressed around other dogs or humans.
