Shark Fin: No Soup - No Suffering

The killing of more than 70 million sharks a year for their fins is a terrible act of animal cruelty. Working with ocean conservation groups, the SPCA has called for the end of the shark finning trade and created a campaign called: “Shark Fin: No Soup – No Suffering.”

Much has been achieved since we launched our campaign:

  • Shark fin has been banned in leading hotels including The Shangri La and The Peninsula
  • Cathay Pacific agreed to stop shipping shark fin products on all its routes
  • Oceanic whitetip shark, Porbeagle shark and Hammerhead sharks (including the Scalloped Hammerhead, Great hammerhead and Smooth Hammerhead) were all successfully added to CITES Appendix II, forcing the Hong Kong government to amend shark fin trading regulations
