About the Position
This internship will be responsible for monitoring news related to the SPCA and animal welfare, translating communications materials, and providing media support.
Roles & Responsibilities
- News Monitoring & Reporting:
- Compile weekly news monitoring reports summarising key news items related to the SPCA and the animal welfare sector.
- Proactively monitor news sources (online, print, and broadcast) for mentions of the SPCA, relevant animal welfare issues, and industry trends.
- Prepare concise and accurate English-language summaries of Chinese-language news articles.
- Translation (English to Traditional Chinese):
- Translate a variety of communications materials from English to Traditional Chinese, including social media posts, website content, press releases, newsletters, blog articles, and marketing collateral.
- Ensure translations are accurate, culturally appropriate, and consistent with the SPCA’s brand voice and messaging.
- Communications Support:
- Assist in the preparation of press releases, media kits, fact sheets, and other communications materials for distribution to media outlets.
- Support benchmarking and market research on peer organisations, e.g. their media presence
Qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese
- Proven experience in social media copywriting and content creation.
- Strong translation skills (English to Chinese) with a demonstrated ability to produce accurate and culturally appropriate translations.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and best practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Passion for animal welfare and commitment to the SPCA’s mission.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
Hours: At least 16 hours per week (flexible time)
