Job Purpose*
The position will be responsible for Animal Birth Control Programmes (the programmes) including but not limited to:
- Assist the Deputy Director to plan, develop, organize and manage the programmes and activities according to the mission and strategy of the Society.
- Lead the team to ensure the efficient and effective execution of the day-to-day administration work, operational procedures and accurate reports of the programmes.
- Liaise with related parties, internal and external on matters involving the programmes.
Roles & Responsibilities*
- Monitor the strategic plan, policy development, Standard Operation Protocols (SOP) review and updates, project plan and implementation of the programmes.
- Oversee the preparation and the activities of the programmes and drive the team to proceed continuous improvement of the programmes.
- Review data collection and analysis methods, equipment used and performance to find ways of increasing effectiveness, improving results, or effecting economies in operational activities of the programmes.
- Ensure all information pertaining to volunteers & programmes animals are computerized and that records are in good order; eg. in RxWorks, on the website, in Access DataBase, etc.
- Conduct and develop proposals for promoting the programmes in line with SPCA mission and long-term objectives of promoting good animal welfare and the highest standards of animal care.
- Associate with the development of alternative funding activities and sources for the programmes.
- Be aware of public relations issues involving the Welfare Department and liaise with AFCD, private veterinary surgeons, carers, volunteers and any other relevant bodies maintaining a good working relationship.
- Lead field works including identifying new locations of the programmes, conducting site visits, interviewing carers/potential carers, and assisting in village campaigns where / when indicated with the Coordinator of the programmes and Inspectorates.
- Respond to public inquiries about the programmes.
- Interview, liaise, train and manage volunteers who support the programmes.
- Monitor performance and staffing needs and conduct timely performance reviews and/or coaching to the team.
Qualification*
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualifications.
Requirements*
- At least 2 years relevant experience in animal welfare or veterinary field.
- Good command of both spoken and written English and Cantonese.
- Excellent planning, implementation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with people at different levels.
- Ability to establish and maintaining effective working relationships with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
- With animal handling experience and an understanding of animal welfare issues across the species.
- Genuine interest in animal welfare.
- Having a valid vehicle license (Class 1 & 2) and relevant driving experience will be an advantage.
- Proficient in MS Office.
