My pet is sick but it is an Emergency?

It is difficult and unwise to try to list conditions that are emergencies as each situation is different, but problems such as difficulty giving birth, not passing urine, prolapsed eye, breathing difficulty, open wounds, poisoning or traffic accidents generally require immediate treatment.

[How the SPCA Helps Cats in Hong Kong?]

Cat Ownership is fast growing in Hong Kong.

At the SPCA, cat adoptions far exceed dog adoptions with 62% of our overall adoptions between 2024 to 2025 being cats!

They also benefitted the most from our Foster Parent Programme last year, with a whopping 73.8% of our foster animals being kittens!

But that’s not the only way the SPCA helps the owned and unowned cat population in Hong Kong – and you can help too!

【Nathan

立即捐款:bit.ly/44ogiXF

[Nathan’s Happy Ever After]
Many people say that animals who have been abandoned are especially hard to trust humans again. But Nathan (now called "Big Head") has shown us that with patience and love, they can open their hearts just the same 💛.

“Big Head” was originally abandoned and later referred to the SPCA by the Agriculture, Fisheries, and Conservation Department. This April, he finally met his forever family and started a brand-new life!

His owner shared: "At first, when we interacted with him, he wouldn’t let us touch him or clean his cage. We thought he was very fierce. But after spending more time with him, we slowly realised he has a unique personality. We built trust with him, and as our bond grew, so did our affection for him. That’s when we decided to bring him home!"

Today, “Big Head” has not only become affectionate but has also been promoted to the family’s "Snack Department Manager"!

👉 There are still many animals waiting for a home. Get to know the animals at our adoption centre: bit.ly/4owKriJ

👉If you’re not ready to adopt, you can still help by donating to support the daily needs of animals waiting for their forever homes. Donate now: bit.ly/44ogiXF

[Adopt Us – Jackie & Mary]

Hi, we’re Jackie and Mary – we are two of three 5-year-old poodles who were surrendered to the SPCA when our owner had passed away.
Despite these sad circumstances, we remain friendly, gentle and kind, and hope to be able to find a loving home soon.
It would be a dream to be adopted together, though we can also be adopted separately. Please come visit us and see if we make a good match!

Rescue animals need your help. The SPCA relies on the public’s donations for our daily, medical, and training needs. Please support us by joining the Animal Sponsorship Programme (bit.ly/3sp7CmC).

Flying Cat Spotted on the Ledge!

[Inspector’s Log – 11 July 2025]
On 11 July, SPCA inspectors responded to an urgent request from the Fire Services Department for assistance about a cat found standing on a ledge near the outer laundry rack of an apartment.

Our inspectors responded swiftly to the scene with catch pole and rope and cooperated with firefighters to bring the cat back to safety.

Luckily, the cat was spotted timely so that the inspectors could arrive at the scene immediately. However, not every Flying Cat could be found timely… In 2024, of the 274 “flying cat” cases we handled, 60 jumped down and died when we arrived on the scene.

To avoid tragedy, all cat owners should install netting over windows or screen doors to the balcony.

The SPCA animal rescue service is free. If you wish to help us help more animals, please donate via bit.ly/4dmd0cj.

[Adopt Us – Suspected Cruelty Case Cats]

Hi, we’re Radish Cake, Spring Roll, Cheung Fun, Rice Pudding and Custard Bun!

Earlier this year, we were discovered living in a cramped, unsanitary room with little ventilation and light.
We also had limited access to food and water, but thankfully, some volunteers and inspectors came to our rescue, and we now have a second chance at finding our happy ever after.

Although our case has not come to a close yet, we are ready to find our forever homes and hope to put this whole ordeal behind us. However, as we are a bit timid, you will need to call our Tsing Yi Centre at 2593 5409 to make an appointment to visit us.

None of this would have been possible without the Animal Sponsorship Programme which helps to cover our daily, medical, and training needs. Please support us by joining the Animal Sponsorship Programme (bit.ly/3sp7CmC).

Need help? From now until 30 September, cat adopters at the SPCA can enjoy a 50% discount on our online A-Z cat course.
