HKJC CARE Volunteers’ Support for Animals
The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team has been a beacon of kindness, supporting vulnerable animals in our community. The team has shown exceptional commitment to animal welfare, strengthening its partnership with the SPCA over the past five years.
Celebrating 20 Years of Caring for Street Cats
2020 marked the 20th anniversary of the SPCA’s Cat Colony Care Programme (CCCP), which has sterilised and cared for countless street cats. Despite pandemic restrictions, the SPCA celebrated with Hong Kong’s first large-scale outdoor Cat Festival, raising awareness about street cat welfare. CARE@hkjc Volunteers assisted in trapping stray cats for sterilisation and contributed by crafting humane trap covers and knitting cat beds.
Our Extended Team at SPCA Events
The CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team has been a vibrant presence at SPCA events, bringing joy through balloon-twisting, face painting, and band performances. In March 2024, they played a key role in providing on-site support at the Grand Opening of the SPCA Jockey Club Centennial Centre, including a warm welcome for their Chairman, Mr. Michael Lee and Executive Director, Corporate Affairs, Mr. Raymond Tam, highlighting the strong partnership between HKJC and the SPCA.
Record-Breaking Dogathon 2025
This year, the CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team excelled with 75 volunteers at Dogathon, led by the HKJC’s Head of External Affairs, Mr. Freely Cheng. Their enthusiasm contributed to the event’s success, further strengthening the bond between the SPCA and the HKJC community.
Looking Ahead: SPCA x HKJC SumMEOW Festival and Beyond
As we celebrate 25 years of the CCCP, we are excited to announce that the HKJC will be the title sponsor of the SPCA x HKJC SumMEOW Festival this August at the Jockey Club Centennial Centre, spreading the important message of responsible cat ownership across Hong Kong.
