Derek Kwik
Kudos to our previous Executive Committee member and long-time supporter on his impressive 220km ultra-marathon run through the jungles of Cambodia from Phom Penh to Siem Reap on 3 – 8 December 2023. We are extremely honoured and grateful that Derek has chosen the SPCA as his beneficiary for this run to support our animals in need.
“ I got my brain fried under the hot sun in the rice paddies with no shade and the jungles were incredibly slippery and muddy. This was my 16th consecutive multi-day ultra-marathon on behalf of the SPCA. That’s 4,000 kilometers of running to highlight animal welfare. When asked what is the correlation between animal welfare and ultra-marathons – that’s easy. Training for a marathon is a one year commitment of my time and pet ownership is a lifetime promise. ”
