A Calmer Start for New Beginnings:
SPCA Cat & Dog Quarantine at Tsing Yi
Relocating to Hong Kong is exciting—new home, new neighbourhoods, new routines. But for many families, there’s also a practical step that can’t be skipped: quarantine for imported pets from designated countries.
Quarantine helps protect animal health and public health. And as more people adopt, relocate, and reunite pets with new families across borders, demand for quarantine services keeps rising. At the same time, existing AFCD quarantine facilities have limited capacity—meaning planning ahead is essential if your cat or dog is arriving from a country that requires mandatory quarantine.
That’s why the SPCA’s licensed quarantine service matters.
The SPCA: A Trusted Private Quarantine Partner
The SPCA Hong Kong operates a licensed quarantine centre at its Tsing Yi Centre (Jockey Club Centennial Centre)—one of the key private quarantine options alongside AFCD. Because it’s privately run, it can help provide additional capacity for households and pet families who need a place for their animals to complete mandatory quarantine safely and on schedule.
The centre offers supervised boarding specifically for imported dogs and cats from Group IIIA/B countries, with seven dog spaces and fourteen cat spaces. It’s located at SPCA’s newest centre in Tsing Yi—a dedicated setting designed for quarantine arrivals, not general boarding.
Welfare-First Quarantine Design
Quarantine can be stressful for animals—especially when they’re in a new environment. That’s why the SPCA’s facility is designed with animal welfare in mind.
From the size of kennels and catteries to support comfort and reduce crowding, to stress-reduction practices and ventilation that supports good air quality, the goal is simple: help pets settle as much as possible during an already challenging period. Just as importantly, there is veterinary oversight throughout the quarantine stay, so each pet’s health can be monitored properly and promptly.
Think of quarantine not as “waiting it out,” but as a structured, supervised phase—helping pets transition to Hong Kong with the care they deserve.
One-Stop Support for Newly Relocated Pet Owners
For many relocating families, quarantine logistics can feel overwhelming, which is why
For many, the SPCA’s quarantine services can help pet owners manage the process more smoothly by providing veterinary support and grooming services under one roof.

Owner Visits & One-to-One Time:
The SPCA can facilitate one-to-one visits between owners and their quarantined cats or dogs. This gives pets something familiar during the unfamiliar. If owners are not available to visit, pets will have one-to-one playtime with kennel keepers.

In-house Vet Monitoring:
The SPCA’s in-house vet services provide support and monitoring for each animal during the quarantine period.

Optional Grooming Add-Ons:
If you’d like, the SPCA can also offer grooming services as an add-on—helping your pet feel refreshed while remaining under the required quarantine arrangements.
And because the SPCA provides retail services on-site, you can handle more essentials in one visit—ideal when you’re juggling relocation responsibilities.
