Dog Walker Training Course

Learn from SPCA’s professional dog trainers and become a certified dog walker with this 6-day training course.

You might know how to handle and walk your own dog(s), but it’s another thing walking someone else’s dog or a dog that’s entirely new to you like a rescue dog! What should you be aware of? What equipment will you need? Do they have any triggers?

This course will teach you how to properly handle and walk a dog, by learning the tricks of the trade from SPCA dog training professionals. Learn the recommended tools, etiquette and most importantly, dog body language to ensure that each outing is a rewarding experience for both you and the dog.

Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a course certificate issued by the SPCA. Participants who meet the minimum number of dog walking service requirements at any of our SPCA centres within 3 months of course completion will be qualified as a SPCA Dog Walker and receive a SPCA Dog Walker Qualification Card.

• The first two sessions require kennel service to allow participants to become familiar with dogs, so please wear appropriate clothing. Sessions 5 & 6 (dog walker shadowing and assessment) will be arranged individually.
• This course is for people only. Do not bring your own dogs to attend this course.
• The basic requirements of participating volunteer dog walker:
  • 16 years old or above
  • HKID card holder
