For Pet Owners: Dining Out Responsibly with Your Dog
Restaurant inclusivity works best when pet owners also come prepared. Owners should ensure their dogs are calm, manageable, and suitable for the environment, and should follow venue rules at all times. The SPCA’s restaurant etiquette guidance encourages owners to keep their dogs safe and under control, being secured on leash, avoid feeding dogs on the table or allow them to scavenge from the floor, and be considerate of the comfort of other diners. FEHD’s public guidance also emphasises proper dog management and respectful shared use of the space.

Dog Dining Etiquette Training Workshop
Responsible pet-friendly dining also depends on dogs being well prepared for shared public spaces. To support dog owners, SPCA offers a Dog Dining Etiquette Training Workshop, led by experienced dog trainers at the SPCA Tsing Yi Centre.
This workshop is designed to help owners prepare their dogs for dining outings by covering key skills such as:
- Restaurant etiquette and calm behaviour in a public setting;
- Safety precautions;
- Socialisation training;
- Helping dogs remain settled and comfortable around people and activity.
