Policies

Cancellation

If the minimum number of attendees for a course is not met three days prior to the first class, the course will be cancelled. We will notify you as soon as we can and offer you the option to re-enrol in an alternative course, retain a credit with us for a future course or receive a full refund.

Refunds

Refunds are provided only for class cancellations made by the SPCA. Refunds will be made by cheque sent within four weeks.

Vaccinations

For puppy classes, we require proof of two DHPPiL vaccinations given at least seven days before the first class. For dogs over five months old, we require proof of current rabies vaccination status. You must present proof of vaccinations by the first session in order for your dog to participate in subsequent classes. All vaccinations must be conducted by a registered veterinary surgeon.

Declines & referrals

In order to protect all participants in a class, we reserve the right to refuse entry to any dog who presents behavioural issues that may be overly dangerous, disruptive, or that may be exacerbated by participation in a group class. If any behaviour issues are discovered during a course and the trainer determines that it is in everyone’s best interest that you seek private consultation, you will be recommended alternative private instruction instead.

Schedule changes

Any class changes should be made 14 days prior to the first lesson. A handling fee of $100 will be charged for every lesson changed.

Participation

We welcome you and up to four family member (including little ones) or friends per dog to join us from the second lesson onwards. Please register your attendance with your trainer at the beginning of the lesson but please note that younger members of the family must attend under the supervision of a parent to ensure the safety and comfort of everyone, humans and dogs alike, in the class.

Absence

If your dog is not able to come to a lesson, we highly encourage you to still attend. If you are not able, relevant homework materials will be sent to you by e-mail. We regret that we are unable to offer ‘make-up’ classes.

Please note that video and tape recording is not permitted in any class
