Many people believe that SPCA is a government funded organisation:
in fact, we receive only around 1% of our funding from the Government.
We depend upon generous people like you to continue our work of helping animals in need everyday.
Many times we are asked if by giving a donation, one also becomes a member. In fact, donating is a means of helping support SPCA's work without having access to our services. However, you are most welcome to also become a member.
All donations over the amount of $HK100 are eligible for tax deduction in Hong Kong.
Help give abandoned animals a second chance!
SPCA saves 1,000s of animals every year. Many of the animals we receive are sick or injured. Those that are suitable for rehoming receive immediate veterinary treatment to make them well and are desexed and vaccinated as appropriate.
Once on the road to recovery, our rescued animals need constant care and are continually monitoring by our committed carers; their kennels, cages and enclosures needs to be cleaned and well managed, tempting and tasty nourishing food supplied, toys for enrichment provided (it can be awfully boring waiting for a home) and a watchful eye kept out to catch any health or behavioural changes early.
Obedience training for our rescued dogs is a must, just as socialisation and playtime is vital to help heal wounds of abandonment and help them to settle into their new home more easily.
By making a one-off donation, (or setting up a pledge of HK$100 or more per month offline), you will ensure that each animal receives food, veterinary care and the loving attention they deserve, while they wait for that special adopter.
In return for your generous support, you will receive our special ASP Newsletter twice a year which will keep you updated on the lives of the animals you are helping sponsor.
Please become an Animal Sponsor, and be part of giving more animals the second chance at life that they deserve!

Animal Sponsorship Programme (Monthly Donation Programme) FAQ
Established in August 2000, the SPCA's Cat Colony Care Programme (CCCP) mobilises a dedicated army of volunteers who feed and watch over "families" of street cats in Hong Kong. The carers catch the cats and bring them to SPCA where each cat receives free desexing and basic veterinary care. It is then returned to the street to live out its life.
To date, our CCCP has seen over 61,000 cats desexed and the numbers of stray and feral cats dramatically reduced - a wonderful example of the positive impact of Trap, Neuter and Return (TNR)!
Your donation will enable us to continue expanding this wonderful programme and help us to keep on helping more cats in our community, like this little guy on the left, who has not yet joined the programme!
Our China Outreach is striving to help improve the standards of animal welfare on the mainland.
Our Humane Education Package has been widely distributed to schools in China, and is being used to train teachers. We advise authorities in various provinces on improvement in urban animal management and work closely with public security bureaus. In addition, we share our knowledge with the mainland's veterinary community through workshops and have an ongoing programme that facilitates China vets visiting our HKG Centre. An ongoing initiative is working with social media and internet companies thus spreading our message of love and care for animals to a much wider audience.
Your support will help us continue to develop our programmes in China and play a significant role in bringing about a new era for animal welfare on the Mainland.
SPCA is on call to help animals in need; our Inspectorate responds to 1000's of calls of suspected cruelty and rescues 100's of animals in distress; we rehabilitate and rehome over 2,000 animals a year and battle the tragic issue of animal over population through both promoting desexing of pets and TNR of street animals through successful projects like CCCP.
All the while we reach into schools with the educational message of loving animals; campaign to change public opinion and lobby the government to enact laws that better protect the animals we all love so much.
It is only with your support that we can continue to be both a steady voice and a source of constant hands-on help for desperate animals.
