My pet is sick but it is an Emergency?

It is difficult and unwise to try to list conditions that are emergencies as each situation is different, but problems such as difficulty giving birth, not passing urine, prolapsed eye, breathing difficulty, open wounds, poisoning or traffic accidents generally require immediate treatment.

[How can anyone abandon two cats on the floor of our Centre?!]
On 11 April, two cats, Hak B and Kam B, were found abandoned at our Tsing Yi Centre’s The Nest café, alongside a note explaining their surrender.

Hak B and Kam B were once warehouse cats, brought in by their owners for rodent control. When the warehouse closed, they were discarded, losing everything they knew and loved.

Fortunately, our team provided them with the care they needed, and our vets conducted thorough check-ups. Thankfully, luck was on their side—last week, these two wonderful cats quickly found new homes and began their new lives with loving owners!

The SPCA strongly urges everyone to consider the responsibilities of pet ownership. Pets are not tools; they are sentient beings deserving of love and care. Regardless of circumstances, pet owners must commit to their animals for life and never abandon them. Abandonment is never the solution and is an act of extreme irresponsibility!

[Adopt Me – Fung Fung]

Meow, my name is Fung Fung!
I was rescued by the inspectors on 21 February 2025, in Yuen Long.
I had a pretty bad eye injury at the time, which was causing me quite a bit of pain, and needed to be removed.
I have since recovered well and am ready to start the next chapter of my life!
Please come visit me at the Tsing Yi Centre and see if we make a good match!

Rescue animals need your help. The SPCA relies on the public’s donations for our daily, medical, and training needs. Please support us by joining the Animal Sponsorship Programme (bit.ly/3sp7CmC).

[The Cruelty of the Pet Trade]
In recent years, many people have turned to online platforms and social media to purchase cats and dogs which are often sourced and smuggled in from Mainland China.

Today, the Consumer Council revealed a concerning trend: a significant number of pets bought online are in poor health, with many suffering from illness or distress. People are buying misery - spreading life threatening diseases in the pet population and risking introducing rabies to Hong Kong.

The illegal pet trade operates under cruel conditions, with animals provided with inadequate care and kept in poor environments solely to maximize profits. Illegal breeders and traders prioritize profit over the well-being of these vulnerable animals.

Adoption is the best choice! Thousands of animals are waiting for loving homes, and we encourage anyone considering pet ownership to visit adoption centers first.

If you choose to buy a pet do so from a legal source, ALWAYS visit the breeder. This allows you to meet the mother and father and evaluate the welfare of the pets. Remember to do your research, stay vigilant, and Boycott Bad Breeders!

[Adopt Me – Apple]

Hi, my name is Apple! I was found as a 7-day-old puppy with 4 of my siblings in Lok Ma Chau on 27 July 2024. As we were all so young, we went and stayed with a loving foster family until we were old enough to move into the Adoption Centre.
All of my siblings have since been adopted and only I remain at our Wan Chai Centre, waiting for my happy ever after. I am friendly, food-motivated and love to play. Come visit me and see if I can be the Apple of your eye?

Rescue animals need your help. The SPCA relies on public generosity for our medical, daily, and training needs. Please support us by joining the Animal Sponsorship Programme (bit.ly/3sp7CmC).
