My pet is sick but it is an Emergency?

It is difficult and unwise to try to list conditions that are emergencies as each situation is different, but problems such as difficulty giving birth, not passing urine, prolapsed eye, breathing difficulty, open wounds, poisoning or traffic accidents generally require immediate treatment.

[Adopt Us – Lucky Pups]

Hi, we're Big Mac, Champagne and Mui Mui - 3 out of 4 siblings who were rescued from an incineration site in Tseung Kwan O, earlier this year.
It was lucky we were brought into the SPCA as an incineration site is no place for small puppies like us!
One of our siblings, Tan Tau, was lucky enough to find his forever home already, so the 3 of us now wait at the Adoption Centres for our turn at a happy ever after - come visit us and see if we make a good match!

Rescue animals need your help. The SPCA relies on the public’s donations for our daily, medical, and training needs. Please support us by joining the Animal Sponsorship Programme (bit.ly/3sp7CmC).

[Dogs in Restaurants? A Step Towards a Pet-Friendly Future!]
We are really glad to hear government’s potential proposal to amend the Food Business Regulation to allow restaurants to apply for a special license permitting dogs to enter dining establishments.

For many years, the SPCA has actively promoted and pushed for pet-inclusivity — from improved pet friendly public facilities to enhanced access on public transportation, and welcoming dogs in restaurants. We are pleased to see the government’s policy direction moving toward more pet friendly public spaces.

We believe this step will not only strengthen the bond between people and their pets, but also foster a more animal friendly culture in Hong Kong. At the same time, appropriate safeguards — such as clear hygiene and management guidelines — will help ensure that both diners and their pets can safely and harmoniously share these spaces.

Beyond restaurants, we also hope to see Hong Kong becoming more dog-friendly in other areas — particularly in public housing. We also look forward to seeing long awaited amendments to the outdated Cap. 169 Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Ordinance so that it includes a clear Duty of Care, ensuring pets are not only protected from cruelty but also provided with the proper care and environment they deserve.

[How the SPCA Helps Cats in Hong Kong?]

Cat Ownership is fast growing in Hong Kong.

At the SPCA, cat adoptions far exceed dog adoptions with 62% of our overall adoptions between 2024 to 2025 being cats!

They also benefitted the most from our Foster Parent Programme last year, with a whopping 73.8% of our foster animals being kittens!

But that’s not the only way the SPCA helps the owned and unowned cat population in Hong Kong – and you can help too!

【Nathan

[Nathan’s Happy Ever After]
Many people say that animals who have been abandoned are especially hard to trust humans again. But Nathan (now called "Big Head") has shown us that with patience and love, they can open their hearts just the same 💛.

“Big Head” was originally abandoned and later referred to the SPCA by the Agriculture, Fisheries, and Conservation Department. This April, he finally met his forever family and started a brand-new life!

His owner shared: "At first, when we interacted with him, he wouldn’t let us touch him or clean his cage. We thought he was very fierce. But after spending more time with him, we slowly realised he has a unique personality. We built trust with him, and as our bond grew, so did our affection for him. That’s when we decided to bring him home!"

Today, “Big Head” has not only become affectionate but has also been promoted to the family’s "Snack Department Manager"!
