My pet is sick but it is an Emergency?

It is difficult and unwise to try to list conditions that are emergencies as each situation is different, but problems such as difficulty giving birth, not passing urine, prolapsed eye, breathing difficulty, open wounds, poisoning or traffic accidents generally require immediate treatment.

Our “Long Stayer” Hyena and Miyuki Found Their Happily Ever After

Hyena was rescued from a school back in 2022 as a 2-month-old puppy. Although a sweet and playful boy, Hyena appeared to have lots of energy and would bark whenever visitors entered kennels, scaring away potential adopters.

Finally, after 830 days of waiting for his happy ever after, Hyena was finally adopted by our former Homing Assistant and friend. 🥹3 months later, as luck would have it, the pair stumbled across another dog at the SPCA; 9-month-old Miyuki, who reminded them of their former dog.

Now, Hyena and Miyuki have perfectly settled into their new life, and even recently welcomed a new cat sibling to the family. 🏠

Thank you to everyone who supports adoption. It also serves as a good reminder that rescue animals need a loving home of their own to truly thrive and reach their full potential ️ ❤️

Caring for our long-stay animals takes tremendous dedication and resources. You can help us give more animals a second chance by simply donating HK$20 to purchase a charity raffle ticket 🫂

Peanut:bit.ly/3WKLVJs

[Newborn Kittens Found Abandoned in Trash Bin ]
In early May, SPCA inspectors and police officers discovered five newborn kittens, just a few days old, inside a sealed plastic bag placed in a cardboard box and discarded in a large trash bin near Tin Hau Temple in Sham Shui Po. On the same day, a 71-year-old man was arrested, and two additional adult cats were seized from his residence. We immediately took in and began caring for all the cats.

The case concluded this month. The man pleaded guilty to two charges of "Cruelty to Animals" and was sentenced to two months' imprisonment, suspended for 24 months.

Please never abandon animals on the streets or discard them in trash bins. Abandoning pets is not only cruel – it is also illegal.

Four of the rescued cats have since been adopted into loving homes. Sadly, two of the kittens were too weak and did not survive. Peanut, one of the rescued cats, is still waiting at the SPCA Tsing Yi Centre for a warm, forever home. 👉🏻 Adopt Peanut: bit.ly/3WKLVJs

99% of the SPCA’s funds come from public donations. If you are unable to adopt an animal, please consider setting up a monthly donation to support homeless animals in our care! 🔗 bit.ly/3TNRnug

【領養我 Adopt Me - Micky】 大家好我係M 【領養我 Adopt Me - Micky】

Hi, my name is Micky! I was found at a rubbish collection point in Sheung Shui with an injury to my right paw.
Thankfully, the inspectors came to my rescue, and I was able to get the treatment and care I needed from the veterinary team!
Now that I am doing much better, I can still be a bit shy when it comes to meeting new people but am a gentle and clever young girl who would love to go to a loving home soon!
Please come visit me and see if we make a good match!

Rescue animals need your help. The SPCA relies on the public’s donations for our daily, medical, and training needs. Please support us by joining the Animal Sponsorship Programme (bit.ly/3sp7CmC).

Street Cat Trapped on 30-Storey-High Building Wall!

[Inspector’s Log – 14-16 September 2025]
On 14 September, a resident in Hung Hom reported persistent cat cries. Responding to the call, SPCA Inspectors teamed up with firefighters. At first, the cat was nowhere to be seen — only its helpless cries for help could be heard.

On the second day, the firefighters discovered that the cat was trapped deep inside a protective shaft of the building’s external drainage pipe — over 30-storey high! Firefighters cut open the base of the shaft to let light in and give the cat a chance to escape. The SPCA Inspector quickly built a platform to reduce the risk of the cat falling and getting injured. Cardboard was carefully placed around the trap cage to minimise stress and help keep the cat calm.

On the third day, the mission was a success — the cat escaped safely! It was immediately taken to the SPCA Centre for a check-up. It turned out to be a street cat and, after confirming it had no injuries, it was safely released back to its home territory.

This September, SPCA received a total of 1741calls and assisted 390 animals.

[Adopt Me – Rajah]

Hi, my name is Rajah! I was rescued by the inspectors outside a residential building in Yau Ma Tei on 29 June 2025.
I appeared to have an injury to my back at the time, as I was hunched over and not willing to move much. Despite this, I remained friendly and co-operative but prefer to keep my distance from other cats.
Thankfully, I was able to receive the care and treatment I needed from the veterinary team and am doing much better now.
I would love to find my forever, loving home soon and am a lover of snacks - please come visit me and see if we make a good match!
