My pet is sick but it is an Emergency?

It is difficult and unwise to try to list conditions that are emergencies as each situation is different, but problems such as difficulty giving birth, not passing urine, prolapsed eye, breathing difficulty, open wounds, poisoning or traffic accidents generally require immediate treatment.

[Buddha's Birthday & Mercy Release]

With Buddha’s Birthday approaching, we’d like to remind the public that mercy release is not a harmless act of kindness—especially when it involves animals.

In Hong Kong, the abandonment of Red-eared sliders is a growing problem. Many are illegally traded and later discarded when they outgrow their tanks or require more care than their owners can provide. Some are released through so-called “mercy release” activities—often dumping turtles in parks, streams, or reservoirs.

The release of non-native species, such as Red-eared sliders, causes serious harm to our local environment, as they can: compete with native wildlife , and
spread diseases that threaten local biodiversity.

We understand that mercy release is often done with compassion. However, it does more harm than good. Practitioners may face a maximum 3-year prison sentence and a HK$200,000 fine.

This Buddha’s Birthday, please choose kindness that protects animals and the environment:
Do not participate in mercy release activities.

[Inspector’s Story – April 2026]
The Inspectorate team regularly receives calls for assistance involving cats stranded on ledges or external structures of high-rise buildings. These situations are very dangerous. Every rescue requires close coordination with the FSD and building management to ensure it can be carried out effectively.
Through repeated exposure to such cases, inspectors have developed strong practical skills and experience, enabling them to conduct rescues safely and effectively.

Timely intervention has led to good outcomes for many cats. However, not every cat is able to hold on until help arrives. This is why it is crucial to ensure you have the proper measures at home to prevent such incidents from happening.
Do not gamble with your cat’s life and install cat netting now!

This April, SPCA received a total of 2,337 calls and assisted 703 animals.

If you ever witness an animal in distress, please don’t hesitate to contact us. SPCA 24-hour animal rescue hotline: ☎️2711 1000

The SPCA animal rescue service is free. If you wish to help us help more animals, please donate via https://bit.ly/3JirHE4 .
Rescue Dog Day]

https://bit.ly/4cICnXg

領養程序:bit.ly/46WAu6g

[Rescue Dog Day]

Today, we celebrate our rescue dogs—and we especially want to highlight the joy of adopting an adult dog.
Many of our rescue dogs arrived as puppies, and through no fault of their own, they’ve simply had longer journeys than they deserved. Now, they’re older, often calmer, and ready for the kind of stable, loving home they’ve been patiently waiting for.

If you’ve been thinking about welcoming a dog into your life, we urge you to consider taking in a long stayer—an adult rescue who’s ready to be cherished.
See all of our animals available for adoption here: https://bit.ly/4cIIXwC

SPCA Tsing Yi, Wan Chai, Kowloon and Sai Kung adoption centres are open every day 11am-5:30pm (appointment free). Adoption process: bit.ly/42u9Znu

Can’t adopt? The SPCA relies on the public’s donations for our daily, medical, and training needs. Please support us by joining the Animal Sponsorship Programme to help animals in need (bit.ly/3sp7CmC).

【領養我Adopt Me - Chicken 】

[Adopt Me – Chicken]

Hello, my name is Chicken! I was abandoned at the gates of the SPCA Tsing Yi Centre in October 2025 and was very skinny and poorly at the time.Despite this sad start, I was able to get the care and treatment I needed and remained friendly throughout.

I would love to put this chapter behind me and find a loving, forever home but I hope my next owner will carefully consider whether they can give me the care I need before deciding to take me home. I don't think my little heart can take being abandoned again.
If you can give me the happy ever after I deserve, please come visit me and see if we make a good match!

SPCA Tsing Yi, Wan Chai, Kowloon and Sai Kung adoption centres are open every day 11am-5:30pm (appointment free).
