My pet is sick but it is an Emergency?

It is difficult and unwise to try to list conditions that are emergencies as each situation is different, but problems such as difficulty giving birth, not passing urine, prolapsed eye, breathing difficulty, open wounds, poisoning or traffic accidents generally require immediate treatment.

[8 cats neglected by their owner]

In June 2024, our SPCA inspectors, together with the police, discovered a case of neglect, involving 8 cats in a Hung Shui Kiu flat. Veterinary examinations revealed that the cats were suffering from multiple health issues, including cat flu, ear infections, and skin diseases, all resulting from neglect and lack of treatment.

Months of veterinary treatment and rehabilitation were required after the rescue, before the police granted permission for the cats to be rehomed at the end of 2024. Sadly, one precious life was lost during treatment, but the remaining seven fought through and survived. Soon after, they were rehomed and are now thriving in loving homes, enjoying the warmth and kindness they deserved with their new owners.

In September 2025, the defendant was convicted of animal cruelty and sentenced to two months' imprisonment, suspended for 24 months.

Neglect can cause just as much harm to pets as bodily harm. Please take good care of your pets and be a responsible pet owner!

The SPCA animal rescue service is free. If you wish to help us help more animals, please donate via bit.ly/4dmd0cj.

From Stray to Loved — Dim Dim & Hak Hak’s Story 🐾

Dim Dim and Hak Hak are two gentle, sophisticated sisters with a bond that’s truly special. They were found as strays and lovingly fostered by one of our SPCA homing staff until they were old enough to move into our Adoption Centre. 💖

Dim Dim is active, positive, and a little shy — always curious about the world around her. Hak Hak is timid yet courageous, calm, and affectionate. Together, they make a perfectly balanced pair who are inseparable.

As a bonded pair, they’ll need to be adopted together — could you be the one to give these two graceful sisters a loving forever home? 💛

[Adopt Me – Clover]

Hi, my name is Clover! I was 1 of 4 puppies rescued from an incineration site in Tseung Kwan O, when a concerned passerby came to our rescue and brought us into the SPCA on 29 April 2025. 9 months have passed and all of my siblings have since been adopted, and only I remain.
I would love to find my happy ever after too. I have been described as cheerful, clever and courageous – please come visit me and see if we make a good match!

Rescue animals need your help. The SPCA relies on the public’s donations for our daily, medical, and training needs. Please support us by joining the Animal Sponsorship Programme (bit.ly/3sp7CmC).

It’s Official — Dog-Friendly Dining Is Coming to Hong Kong!🐶🍽️

Exciting news for all dog lovers! 🎉 The government has released the timeline and guidelines for restaurants to begin applying for dog-friendly dining licenses. The first batch of applications is expected to be approved by mid-year!

📌 Key Highlights:
- Up to 1,000 restaurants can apply for the new license
- Dog-friendly restaurants will display a clear signage to indicate they welcome dogs
- Indoor, air-conditioned areas may also be approved — not just open-air seating!
- Separate utensils must be used for dogs and humans
- Hotpot and BBQ restaurants are excluded due to safety concerns

At the SPCA, we’ve been actively engaging with various government departments to advocate for a more pet-inclusive Hong Kong. We’re thrilled to see the government taking this big step, and we’ll continue to provide input and support to restaurants to help ensure smooth implementation of the policy.

🙌 A Gentle Reminder:
✅ Be a responsible dog owner – keep your dog clean, well-behaved, and under control
✅ Be considerate to all diners – remember, not everyone may feel comfortable around animals

[Adopt Me – Miken]

Hi, my name is Miken! I was found wandering around on my own by a concerned passerby who reported this to the inspectors in December 2025.

I am an introverted young girl who needs a bit of time to get to know you before I let my true personality show. I love a good massage and will ask you for more if I feel like I haven’t gotten enough. Despite looking serious sometimes, I am actually a very gentle and calm cat who would love to find a loving, forever home soon. Please come visit me and see if we make a good match!
