Responsibilities:

  • Volunteer Strategy & Management
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive volunteer engagement strategy aligned with SPCA’s mission for skilled and general volunteers
    • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention of volunteers across various programs
    • Demonstrate a clear understanding of volunteer needs across departments including the roles and responsibilities, coordinating with key stakeholders to establish such needs including urgent, mid and long-term pipeline as well as skill-based volunteers.
    • Sustain a regular supply of volunteers for all open roles.
    • Manage and maintain the volunteer database, website job postings and other third-party platforms for recruitment.
    • Involve in planning, liaison, administration and arranging logistics support and collect volunteers’ feedback to refine various programmes.
    • Act as the lead contact and coordinator for all volunteer activity at key workshop, events and key programmes, including supporting the coordination and admin support for our Corporate Volunteer Programme.
    • Maintain a robust volunteer database and ensure accurate tracking of participation, feedback and impact
    • Design recognition and reward systems to celebrate volunteer contributions and maintain retention
  • Community Engagement & Outreach
    • Plan and execute community involvement activities including volunteer recruitment campaigns, public events, and advocacy initiatives
    • Lead and coordinate the volunteering recruitment effort for the Society, responsible for answer volunteering enquiries online and offline
    • Collaborate with corporates, NGOs, and other partners such as HKJC and Time Auction to expand SPCA’s outreach footprint through volunteerism
    • Represent SPCA at all external events
    • To build and cultivate relationships with ‘VIP’/ Star/ Repeat Volunteers – building a loyalty long-term volunteer community
    • Maintain an engaged volunteer community through email, WhatsApp, and other future digital CRM channel
  • Program Development & Leadership
    • Innovate new initiatives to deepen community involvement through volunteers, converting them into members, donors and loyal supporters for the SPCA
    • Including leading annual flagship event volunteers recruitment and marketing such as Dogathon and Flag Day
    • Working with the content team to develop materials and contents for promotion, communication and recruitment of volunteers through different channels.
    • Maintain and sustain volunteer recruitment material (online and offline).
    • Be the volunteer expert within the SPCA and to explore new ways and new platforms to recruit volunteer resources.
  • Team & Budget Management
    • Lead cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality engagement & volunteer programs
    • Monitor volunteer program effectiveness (such as kennel keeper, VSD and dog walker) and provide regular reports and recommendations for improvement
    • Supervise all volunteers as their extended- SPCA team
    • Manage budgets related to volunteer and community activities, ensuring cost-effective use of resources Collaborate with the Community team to recruit volunteer via the Corporate Volunteer Programme and cultivate further engagement.

Qualification & Requirements

  • Degree holder or above, Bachelor’s degree in social work, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in volunteer coordination, community engagement, or program management.
  • Proficiency in Cantonese and English (spoken and written); Mandarin is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Confident and outgoing, good conversationist with anyone from a diverse background.
  • Good team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently under tight timeline.
  • Problem-solver and resourceful. Strong leadership, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.
  • Passion for animal welfare and commitment to SPCA’s values.
  • The role will require regular weekend work.
