Animal Rescue Inspector Trainee

Responsibilities

• Assist in the daily operations of the SPCA Inspectorate, including the investigation and prosecution of animal cruelty cases, court attendance as required, record keeping, animal welfare enforcement, public education, and the safeguarding of animal welfare.
• Assist in the rescue, handling, transportation, and welfare management of animals, including transporting animals to the SPCA or other designated locations, and performing euthanasia when required and authorized.
• Conduct inspections of premises where animals are kept, including markets, pet shops, boarding facilities, breeding establishments, slaughterhouses, and other locations as assigned.
• Operate and maintain Inspectorate vehicles and equipment in a safe, efficient, and professional manner.
• Support the effective operation of the Inspectorate by adhering to established policies, procedures, protocols, and operational standards.
• Assist with the training and guidance of staff and volunteers as required.
• Assist with data collection, case documentation, report preparation, and administrative duties as directed by senior officers.
• Be aware of public relations issues involving the Welfare Department and liaise with AFCD, HKP, FSD, FEHD, Kadoorie farm and other relevant bodies maintaining a good working relationship.
• Liaise and collaborate with internal departments on animal welfare, enforcement activities, investigations, education, and community engagement initiatives.
• Support the Inspectorate Team in public education, fundraising, media, and promotional activities, including participation in photography sessions, video productions, interviews, media appearances, educational campaigns, and other publicity initiatives that may involve the use of facial images, as required.

Requirements

• DSE / Form 5 or above.
• MUST have a valid Hong Kong driving license of Class 1 & 2 with minimum two years of driving experience
• Good command in written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel applications.
• Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willing to work on shifts in uniform including overnight duties.
• Recognized qualification in first aid is an advantage.
• Genuine interest in the welfare of all animals.
• Willing to work on shifts in uniform including overnight duties.
• Working hours: 2 days on & 2 days off on roster basis, 12 hours per shift.
