一時疏忽，足以奪去一條生命

2026 年 2 月，愛協督察去到將軍澳跟進一宗狗隻由高處墮下致死嘅案件。事發時，狗狗正由狗主朋友暫時照顧。

經警方動物專隊調查後，確認事件為一宗意外，並唔涉及殘酷對待動物。

呢宗悲劇再次提醒我哋：意外往往就喺一瞬間發生，而當中好多其實係可以避免。

無論寵物係由主人、家人、朋友，定係臨時照顧者照顧，都必須確保佢哋身處安全穩妥嘅環境。主人應事先清楚交代動物嘅習性、性格同需要；而照顧者亦有責任做好一切必要嘅安全措施，保障佢哋免受傷害。

我哋提醒各位主人同照顧者，務必要妥善關好門窗，確保動物安全。

做個負責任嘅主人，唔單止係畀食物同居所，更重要係每日用心保護動物，避免悲劇發生。

A moment of negligence can cost a life.

In February 2026, SPCA inspectors followed up on a case in Tseung Kwan O involving a dog that died after falling from a height. At the time of the incident, the dog was being temporarily cared for by a friend of the owner.

Following an investigation by the Police animal designated team, the incident was confirmed to be an accident and did not involve animal cruelty.

This tragic case is a reminder that accidents can happen in an instant — and many of them are preventable.

Whether pets are in the care of their owners, family members, friends or temporary caregivers, they must always be kept in a safe and secure environment. Owners should clearly explain their animal’s habits, temperament and needs in advance, while caregivers have a responsibility to take all necessary safety precautions to protect them from harm.

We would like to remind all owners and caregivers to ensure that windows and doors are properly secured to keep animals safe.

Being a responsible owner is about more than providing food and shelter. It also means protecting animals every day with care and helping to prevent tragedies from happening.

我叫 Marco！ 🐶 我係一隻唐狗。我知道而家有啲人見到我哋呢類狗狗，可能會有少少驚；但其實，每一隻狗狗都值得被了解、被耐心教導，同埋被好好照顧。

2025年10月15號，有人喺上水一個自然生態中心外面發現我同另外三隻狗仔。自此之後，就一直喺愛協等緊一個家。

我係一個開朗又隨和嘅男仔，去到邊都想識朋友。我會喺 9月10日滿一歲，而我最大嘅生日願望，就係可以快啲搵到一個充滿愛嘅屋企。

Hi, my name is Marco! 🐶

I’m a mongrel, and I know some people may feel a little scared of dogs like us right now. But every dog deserves the chance to be understood, properly trained, and lovingly cared for.

It’s a difficult time for many of us, and finding a home has become harder than ever. That’s why I’m hoping someone kind will give me a chance — could you be the one to bring me home? ❤️

I was found with three other puppies after we were abandoned outside a nature centre in Sheung Shui on 15 October 2025. Since then, I’ve been staying at the SPCA, patiently waiting for my own happy ending.

I’m a happy-go-lucky boy who loves making friends wherever I go. I’ll be turning one year old on 10 September, and my biggest wish is to celebrate my birthday with a loving forever family.

Please come and meet me — we might just be the perfect match. 🏡

守護動物福利維護公平程序推動共融社區

近日多宗與狗隻有關的事件在香港社會引起廣泛關注，我們對當中涉及的動物福利、公共安全及相關處理程序深表關注。

我們堅信，負責任的寵物飼養與公共安全必須並行不悖。為此，我們正致力推動以下工作：

1. 促請漁農自然護理署檢視現行程序
我們正積極與漁農自然護理署（漁護署）溝通，反映寵物主人及廣大社區的關注，並促請當局就現行法律框架下，清晰交代品種分類程序，建立更透明一致的核實機制，為飼主提供清晰指引，同時檢視「危險狗隻」的定義及管理安排，在保障公共安全的同時，優先考慮動物福利。

2. 持續推動教育與行為訓練
要推動負責任的寵物飼養，必須依靠持續的公眾教育和實務守則。我們一直致力於在社區推廣相關教育，提供行為工作坊，以及為狗主提供適切指導，協助他們建立安全管理意識和良好飼養習慣，從而提升公眾對犬隻管理的信心。多年來，我們亦持續就相關公眾教育工作，向漁護署提供意見。

3. 推動負責任寵物飼養及全面改革動物福利法
每一位飼主最基本的責任，是確保其狗隻(不論任何品種或大小)得到妥善訓練和管理，不會對他人或其他動物構成危險。遵守相關法律要求、維持安全穩妥的家居環境、提供適當訓練及社交，以及在公眾場所妥善管束狗隻，都是負責任飼養不可或缺的一部分。全面改革動物福利法例一直是我們及社會各界關注的重要議題，包括在法律中明確引入謹慎責任。

與此同時，伴侶動物對許多香港家庭而言，都是珍貴的家庭成員。一個現代而共融的城市，應讓人與寵物能夠安全、負責任地共享公共空間。

我們關注到，近期個案所引發的高度焦慮，或會導致鄰里之間不必要的衝突、棄養問題，或令人單憑狗隻的體型、外貌或被認定的品種而作出不公平判斷。這些反應有可能令我們多年來共同推動更寵物友善、更具同理心城市的成果出現倒退。

我們呼籲所有市民，不論是否飼養寵物，都以同理心和理解回應當前情況。透過教育、清晰標準和問責機制，我們可以在保障公共安全和動物福利的同時，共同建設一個更共融的社會。

Currently, the SPCA has over 70 cats and kittens looking for their happy ever after.This is the most kittens we have received from a breeding season in a long while, and we have had to open up a temporary cat adoption room at our Tsing Yi Centre as a result.

當你覺得太熱嘅時候，狗狗其實都可能已經好辛苦！

喺一日之中最熱嘅時段，最安全嘅做法都係留喺室内，喺冷氣地方好好休息，等氣溫稍為下降之後先出去行吓。

帶狗狗出街嘅話，最好揀清晨或者夜晚，盡量縮短外出時間、帶備充足嘅清涼飲用水，並盡可能留喺有遮蔭嘅地方。

向右掃睇吓夏天同狗狗出街有咩要注意啦！

確保狗狗時刻保持舒爽，就可以放心玩轉呢個夏天啦！

如果發現狗狗有熱衰竭徵狀，例如急速喘氣、無力、嘔吐、流口水過多、甚至昏倒，就要立即將狗狗帶到陰涼嘅地方，並盡快尋求獸醫協助。

If it’s too hot for you, it may be too hot for your dog.

In the hottest part of the day, the safest option is to stay indoors, rest in the aircon, and wait until temperatures drop before going outside. For outdoor time, choose the early morning or evening, keep outings short, take plenty of cool water, and stay in shaded areas whenever possible.

A safe summer starts with helping our canine companions stay cool.

If your dog shows signs of heat distress — such as heavy panting, weakness, vomiting, excessive drooling, or collapse — move them to a cool place immediately and seek emergency veterinary care without delay.
