Every year many thousands of unwanted animals are born in Hong Kong. Some of these litters are the result of accidental matings by unneutered pets. To prevent this problem, the SPCA advocates that all pets should be neutered. Neutering also can have added health benefits.
The SPCA realises that pet owners who want to desex their pets may not have the financial means to do so. Under the Spay Neuter Assistance Programme (SNAP), the SPCA can offer assistance in three ways:
