30-08-2019, SPCA (HK) Aniform Day 2019 Connecting All Living Creatures with Love Creating Harmony in Our Community

(Hong Kong, 30 August 2019) As Hong Kong’s Official Ambassador for World Animal Day, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Hong Kong) (“SPCA (HK)”) or “the Society”) joins hands with millions of animal lovers from over 70 countries around the globe to improve the welfare of animals. To echo World Animal Day, the Society has launched the pioneering Aniform Day as a signature event for Hong Kong since 2015, to promote the message of respect, care and acceptance all animals and harmonious co-existence of all living creatures in the community.

To connect humans and animals with love, the Society is pleased to announce the first ever cross-platform collaboration with iconic British brand Mr.  Men Little Miss and innovative fingerprint profiling company MiQi, injecting new elements to enrich the fifth annual Aniform Day.

On behalf of the Society, SPCA (HK) Executive Director Ms. Alice Choi expressed, “We believe love is simple and unconditional; and all animals deserve to be loved by humans. It is hoped that every citizen can join hands together by wearing animal-graphic clothing and/or accessories, connecting humans and animals with love.”

The Society will appoint cartoon characters from Mr. Men Little Miss as our official Aniform Day Ambassadors. They will be dressed up as animals for the first time in the world to express their commitment of caring for animals, encouraging the public to join this event and promote Hong Kong to be an animal-friendly city.

The team of Mr. Men Little Miss expressed, “Many of our team members are animal lovers, as such we hope to bring this love to both humans and animals through the participation of Mr. Men Little Miss."

Ms. Alice Choi expressed, “We believe that if we get to know ourselves and animals in our community better, we can bring each other closer as well as learning how to respect, care and accept all animals.” This year, the Society will launch Aniform Day mini site and MiQi will offer a free fingerprint assessment online to help the public better understand themselves and community animals and learn how to treat animals in the right way. “Fingerprint assessment helps us better understand each other. Both humans and animals will live a happier and more fulfilling life with each other,” Ms. Ellen Mok, the founder of MiQi, said.

To celebrate this occasion, an Aniform Day kick-off ceremony and a carnival will take place at D·PARK on 7 and 8 September. We will announce the appointment of Mr. Men Little Miss as our official Aniform Day Ambassadors to help raise public awareness on the love and respect for animals. During the ceremony, the Society will be holding a fashion parade showcasing the trendy animal-graphic clothing. We are deeply grateful to fashion brand Salad, local fashion band P Jai, British handbag brand TDN(Three Dog Night), jewellery brand R&R Signature Jewel and Happiplayground for their unwavering support.

On the carnival, the Society will invite Fingerprint master Ellen Mok, artist Kitterick Yiu and MiQi’s professional team to provide free fingerprint assessment for all participants to help them find their own characters and also to better understand their talents. We hope participants can understand that animals are as same as human beings—they need our respect, care and acceptance. All participants will receive a personalised animal fingerprint analysis card. Meanwhile, the Society will hold a series of interactive parenting activities, including SPCA Education Theatre, T-shirt design, and the photo-taking area of Mr. Men Little Miss as well as the SPCA charity sale booth. We hope that children can learn more animal knowledge through interactive games and understand that animals are our family members who need to be guarded.

In addition, the Society will invite a number of performance groups to unite the power in helping more animals in need. On the main stage of the carnival, there will be a number of music and dance performances, including djemb show, magic performance, music show, lion dance and dancing performance and more. The carnival offers free admission for all animal lovers.
