Guest of Honour Professor Sophia Chan, JP, Secretary for Food and Health officiated the event alongside Ms Gigi Fu, the President of the SPCA(HK). Other guests in attendance included

For the past 32 years, the SPCA(HK) has held annual charity dog walks that are greatly anticipated by members of the public. This year, we are grateful to have Professor Sophia Chan, JP, Secretary for Food and Health as the Guest of Honour. "The Government attaches great importance to animal welfare and health. Public awareness of protecting animal welfare has increased remarkably in recent years with the Government and animal welfare groups' continuous efforts in public education," Professor Chan said.

Through time, Dogathon has also transformed to become Hong Kong’s largest and longest-standing charity dog walk fundraiser. Ms Jacqueline Kwan, Chairperson of SPCA(HK), remarked in her speech: “Over the years, we have seen more than 38,000 participants and 22,000 dogs join in on our charity walk. Each step taken by these generous donors is a step towards fundraising for animals in need.”

This year Dogathon extended to include the waterfront promenade route which offered fantastic and breathtaking sea view. At the conclusion of the dog walk, the SPCA(HK) hosted a large scale carnival at the finishing line for all participants.

The carnival featured new and exciting activities including a fitness zone for owners and their dogs; an outdoor GOGO maze for dogs; a brick dog installation, as well as interactive animal rescue stations. Other onsite activities included dog agility games, a Frisbee zone, and a pet health workshop held by senior vets; police dog performance; musical performances and charity sales. All attendees and their beloved canines had a wonderful time!
