01-08-2015,SPCA Charity Raffle 2015 Kick-off Ceremony “Give Homeless Animals a Loving Home” Offers helping hands to bring a secure future to more animals

(HONG KONG, 1 August 2015) The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Hong Kong) [SPCA] today hosted the Kick-off Ceremony for its Charity Raffle 2015 at East Point Road Pedestrian Precinct, Causeway Bay. Charity Raffle takes place from 1 August to 20 September under the theme “Give Homeless Animals a Loving Home”. The aim of the campaign is to raise funds for the care of our adoption animals while they await their permanent homes.

Guests of the kick-off ceremony included Sharon Kwok, SPCA Cadet Inspector Ambassador and renowned models Jocelyn Luko & Anthony Sandstrom.

Winnie Chu, Deputy Executive Director of SPCA mentioned that “SPCA is the animal welfare organisation who rehomes the largest number and the most species of animals in Hong Kong. We help more than 2,000 homeless animals find loving new families every year. The animals that enter our adoption programme come from a variety of sources. They may be sick or injured and require veterinary care and nursing. Young animals and those recovering from illness get help from our dedicated team of foster parents. Before a suitable home can be found, extensive resources go into the provision of each animal’s daily care, including veterinary and medical support, health checks, vaccinations, and dog behavioural training.” She also urged the public to support the campaign in order to help the Society to bring life-changing happiness and a secure future to more animals.

A number of booths were set up to exhibit the works of SPCA and delivered the message of animals caring to the public. During the ceremony, Sharon Kwok, SPCA Cadet Inspector Ambassador, and renowned models Jocelyn and Anthony spoke about their experience on animal adoption. Also foster parents as well as staff from our Welfare and Inspectorate Departments shared their stories of the joys and tribulations in rescuing and caring for welfare animals. Members of the public showed very good response to the appeals to strive for the welfare of homeless animals by supporting the charity raffle.
