Responsibilities-

  • To assist the Welfare Manager (Operations & Development) in the daily work of the Homing Division, including animal handling, care, behavioural assessment and modification, environmental enrichment and animal selection for the adoption programme.
  • To organise and conduct dog training classes both at SPCA premises or private premises as directed by the Welfare Operations Manager/Welfare Programme Manager and co-ordinate use of SPCA facilities with other staff.
  • To assist in operational procedures for the effective management and performance of the Behaviour and Training Department, following protocols for any duty performed.
  • To keep accurate records relating to the Behaviour and Training Department. 
  • To assist in the continued development of the B&T initiative within the SPCA.
  • To assist in the management and supervision of volunteers for the Behavior and Training Department
  • To assist with providing Responsible Pet Ownership training and education. 
  • To assist with the training of staff and volunteers as required.
  • To assist in managing the behaviour advice line and carrying out post-adoption counseling for rehomed animals
  • To assist in data collection and report production as directed by the Welfare Operations Manager/Welfare Programme Manager 
  • Be aware of public relations issues involving the SPCA and in particular the Welfare Department, and to liase with AFCD, private veterinarians and any other relevant bodies maintaining a good working relationship. 
  • To liaise with the other departments within the SPCA on matters involving the Behaviour &Training Department as directed.
  • To assist in the promotion of the Society at public events and to help maintain a good public image. 

Requirements

The successful candidate is expected to have the following requirements: - 

  • Have good command of written and spoken English and Cantonese.
  • Preferably 3 years relevant experience in dog training and a recognized qualification/certification in dog training
  • Educational level Form 7/ HKDSE or above, preferably with knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to be a team player
