Are you ready for your next challenge?

If you’re looking for a rewarding job in a highly respected welfare organisation…then the SPCA might just be the place for you!

Celebrating its Centenary in 2021, The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (HK) is one of Asia’s leading animal welfare organisations with seven income generating private clinics, a welfare spay-neuter clinic and two mobile vehicles.

SPCA veterinary surgeons enjoy an excellent work-life balance; generous annual leave, a 5-day week, a 6pm finish, and very limited work on Sundays and Public Holidays. Allowing for plenty of time off to relax and recharge, and to enjoy and pursue the finer things in life!

Due to future expansion plans we are seeking highly motivated, team orientated, fun-loving individuals to join our large, enthusiastic, diverse and progressive team to provide support to our welfare department and assist with the management of our companion animal welfare programmes and initiatives. These currently include adoption, rehabilitation and animal rescue, veterinary forensics and animal abuse investigations, high volume, spay/neuter programmes, free or assisted veterinary care for those in need, outreach (shelter medicine and veterinary education in both Hong Kong and China) and educational programmes.

Facilities include a brand new 24-hour hospital, in-house diagnostic laboratory, digital and dental radiography, ultrasonography, ECG, endoscopy and modern surgical suites. In late 2022 a new state of the art animal welfare hospital and education centre is due to open in the New Territories which will provide additional facilities for our current initiatives as well as providing exciting opportunities for future expansion.

The successful candidate would, using their knowledge in the area of animal welfare and shelter medicine, assist with the expansion and refinement of current programmes and the strategic development and implementation of new initiatives both locally and in the region.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years practical experience in the field of shelter medicine preferably with management experience
  • Post-graduate training and/or a qualification in shelter medicine is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • A willingness to travel around the region and a genuine interest in the welfare of all animals.
