The SPCA (HK) reminds Dog owners and walkers to be aware of the Ever Present Risk of Dog Poisoning along Bowen Road
Today, a dog carcass was found along Bowen Road / Blacks Link, the dog is believed to of died after eating poisoned bait.
The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Hong Kong) [SPCA (HK)] reminds dog owners and dog walkers that the risk of dogs being poisoned walking along Bowen Road and Blackˇ¦s Link remain high.
More than 100 dogs have been killed after ingesting food tainted with poisonous substances. Actual figures are likely to be higher as not all owners will report their petˇ¦s death to the SPCA Inspectorate Hotline (Hotline number 2711-1000).
The SPCA (HK) reminds dog owners and dog walkers to observe the following recommendation while walking dogs along this high risk area:
1. Put all dogs on a leash, keep an eye on your dog at all times and stop them from eating anything on the ground
2. SPCA (HK) recommends that all dogs while walked in this area wear a basket-muzzle to further minimize the risk of ingesting anything from the ground
3. If your dog becomes unwell during or after the walk, take them immediately to your vet or the closest vet clinic (if far away from your regular vet)
4. Report the incidence to the SPCA Inspectorate (24-hour hotline: 2711-1000) and the Police, who will promptly patrol the area & will help clear any bait left to avoid further poisoning
