Background
Over the past 20 years, many animals had been harmed or killed after eating poisoned bait placed along Bowen Road and Black's Lane.
While most of the reported victims were dogs, a cat was discovered to be a recent victim. This had confirmed the concern over wild animals exposing to the same risk and becoming victims as well.
In an effort to prevent more animals becoming poisoning victims the SPCA Inspectors has been patrolling the areas daily trying to deter the cruel act, ensure that poisoned bait are found as soon as possible to reduce the damage done, and to enhance awareness so that dog walkers would take extra precaution and members of the public would report anything suspicious to the police or the SPCA.
While working closely with the police in investigation and prevention work, the SPCA mounts special counter animal poisoning operations from time to time. |
