SPECIAL PROJECTS

The inspectors are actively engaged in supporting special and ongoing projects at the SPCA. Some of these activities originate within the inspectorate department while others fall under other units.

Flexibility is paramount for these team players as they assist such initiatives as the Cat Colony Care Programme (CCCP), the Community Dog Programme (CPD), Animal Welfare Vehicle (SNV) and fund raising events. Not only are the inspectors tasked with rescue and emergency efforts, but also with education and community intervention.

China Outreach reflects the SPCA commitment to animal welfare throughout China and indeed Asia . The inspectors play a key role in training and assistance in the ongoing effort to improve the treatment and care of pets, livestock and wildlife.

SPCA Cadet Inspector Corp

In the ongoing effort to engage our youth as animal ambassadors, interested 16 to 17 year-olds are invited to join this exciting activity. Educated on the values of the SPCA and encouraged to consider a future role in animal welfare, many teens parley this experience into future endeavors.   "Cadet Inspector Corps Programme Details"

Caring Community Campaigns

These campaigns target areas such as housing estates or villages brought to the attention of the inspectors as having specific issues with regards to animal welfare. During these campaigns Caring Home Visits are carried out with the inspectors visiting people in their homes & community to discuss topics like Responsible Pet Ownership or a new Cat Colony site in the community. As with every interaction, inspectors welcome opportunities to open the lines of communication. Call 3144 5022 to find out more information about these campaigns.

City Redevelopment Visits

Recognising that enforced relocation can be problematic, the inspectorate visits residents affected by redevelopment projects. Promoting responsible pet ownership, inspectors encourage people to consider their pets and either move with their animals to new locations or if that is not a possibility - find suitable homes well in advance. Using these opportunities to discuss population control and welfare initiatives, the inspectors open up new avenues of communication in even the most remote areas of Hong Kong.
